A memorable journey along the Lysefjord is the perfect start to your fjordland adventure, offering views of spectacular mountainous landscapes and the unmistakeable Pulpit Rock. You will then sail into Eidfjord for tours to the magnificent Vøringfoss Waterfall and the enchanting Hardangervidda Nature Centre, before embarking on a peaceful glide through the highly-rated ‘Queen of the Fjords’, Hardangerfjord. A day in Flåm follows, allowing time to ride the awe-inspiring Flåmsbana Railway and see the mighty Tvinde and Kjosfossen waterfalls up-close; or climb to the Stegastein Lookout where views of Aurlandsfjord are nothing short of magical. Speaking of magical, a scenic cruise along the glassy waters of UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord will be just that.
Uncover the intriguing history of Klippfish at the unique Museum in Kristiansund, from where you could also encounter white-tailed sea eagles on a wildlife watching excursion; or traverse the famous Atlantic Road, one of the world’s greatest driving roads. Experience an early morning cruise by Strandafjellet Mountain – voted one of the top ten fjord experiences – then enjoy a short stay in Hellesylt – the gateway to the striking Hellesylt Waterfall and Tystigen Glacier. Next, you’ll sail past the Seven Sisters Waterfall and glide along Geirangerfjord en route to Geiranger. Take in the scenic surroundings on a kayaking tour here, or even sample delicious treats at the local chocolate shop & factory. As this inspirational cruise comes to an end you’ll also visit Olden for tours to the stunning Briksdal Glacier; immerse yourself in the peace and tranquillity of the Nordfjord; and dock in beautiful Bergen – home of the charming Bryggen Wharf and majestic Mount Fløyen.
Day to Day Itinerary:
Day 1: Newcastle, United Kingdom: Depart Late PM
Following a flight from Dublin to Newcastle, you will be transferred to the port to board the Fred. Olsen Balmoral where you will begin your journey.
Day 2: Cruising Lysefjord: Arrive Late PM Depart Late Night
Enjoy an unforgettable scenic cruise along the beautiful Lysefjord, where you’ll sail past the famous Kjerag Mountain and underneath the incredible ‘Preikestolen’ (Pulpit Rock).
Day 3: Eidfjord, Norway – Hardangerfjord: Arrive Early AM Depart Early PM
Eidfjord is a picturesque village set within the breathtaking Hardangerfjord. It’s a gateway to some of the region’s most spectacular highlights, including the Hardangervidda Nature Centre and the Voringfossen Waterfall.
Known as the queen of the Fjord, Hardangerfjord is situated centrally in the heart of Western Norway. The best way to experience this incredible Fjord is to sail along the 197 kilomteres, enjoying the spellbinding scenery, towering mountains, waterfalls and idyllic orchards.
Day 4: Flåm (Flam), Sognefjord – Cruising Nærøyfjord (Naeroyfjord): Arrive Early AM to Late Night
Flåm is a tiny village on the banks of the Aurlandsfjord, one of the branches of the beautiful Sognefjord – the longest and deepest fjord in Europe. The setting is utterly spectacular.
The Nærøyfjord (Naeroyfjord) has been rated by National Geographic as the world’s number one natural heritage site and is rumoured to be the inspiration for the snowy scenes in the hit Disney movie Frozen. The fjord is 18 kilometres long and only 500 metres wide at its narrowest point and the passage through it is one of the most dramatic in Europe. As your cruise through this stunning part of the world, you’ll see snow-capped mountains, waterfalls and charming traditional farms that cling to the vast hillsides.
Day 5: Kristiansund, Norway: Arrive Early PM Depart Late night
On Norway’s west coast, Kristiansund is spread over three islands connected by bridges. Discover the history of Klippfish at the unique museum; marvel at the old town’s remarkable architecture; or travel along the renowned Atlantic Road, one of Norway’s most photographed driving roads.
Day 6: Cruising past Strandafjellet Mountain – Hellesylt, More og Romsdal – Cruising Geirangerfjord – Cruising past Seven Sisters Waterfall – Geiranger, More og Romsdal : Arrive Early AM Depart Late Night
Located in Sunnmørsalpene (the Sunnmøre mountain range) the views of Strandafjellet Mountain from your cruise ship are spectacular, surrounded by the clear blue waters of the Geirangerfjord.
The pretty farmhouses and historic structures of tiny Hellesylt are surrounded by spectacular peaks and cascading waterfalls. It’s also a gateway to the stunning scenic landscapes of the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord.
Surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains and thundering waterfalls, the deep blue Geirangerfjord is unique and exceptionally breathtaking.
Enjoy a scenic cruise along the incredible Geirangerfjord and enjoy breathtaking views of one of Norway’s most famous and most impressive natural wonders – the Seven Sisters waterfall.
The scenery around the attractive town of Geiranger is some of the most breathtaking in Europe; Geirangerfjord itself is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kayak the clear blue water and see abandoned farms clinging to near-vertical cliffs and tumbling waterfalls such as the Seven Sisters, the Suitor and the Bridal Veil. For less energetic visitors, a walk along the waterside is a delight to be savoured.
Day 7: Olden, Nordfjord, Norway – Cruising Nordfjord: Arrive Early AM Depart Late Night
The charming village of Olden is set amongst green meadows – ablaze with colourful flowers throughout the summer – and babbling brooks meandering between pretty houses. It’s the gateway to the famous Briksdal glacier arm, which is set between tumbling waterfalls and high peaks.
The Nordfjord is one of Norway’s longest and most picturesque fjords, with the stunning Jostedalsbreen Glacier and Stadhavet Ocean located at either end.
Day 8 – 9: Bergen, Norway: Arrive Early AM Depart late Night
The Hanseatic city of Bergen has many attractions, including the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, with its colourful timbered houses and cobbled streets; a vibrant fish market; and the Troldhaugen Museum, the former home of Norway’s most famous composer, Edvard Grieg.
Day 10: Newcastle, United Kingdom: Arrive Early AM
Once you have disembarked the Balmoral and finished your wonderful adventure we will have you transferred to the airport to get your flight back to Dublin.

Balmoral is the largest ship, named after the Scottish home of the Royal Family. Still smaller than most cruise ships today, there are 710 cabins and suites and generous public space for the 1,300 guests on board.
The main restaurant is Ballindalloch (named after the Speyside village and castle), while the two other formal restaurants – Avon and Spey – are also in keeping with the Scottish theme and are named after two of Scotland’s most beautiful salmon rivers.
There’s a comfy pub with occasional live music or comedy, cabaret and shows in the Neptune Lounge, or drift away with a cool drink and spectacular seascapes in the Observatory Lounge.
