Spain to MiamiDay to Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Barcelona, Spain: Depart 18.00

On arrival in Barcelona, you will be transferred to the port to board the magnificent 4 Star MSC Divina. Set sail for the Spanish coast in the evening.

Day 2: At Sea

Your first days at sea are spent cruising south towards Cadiz. Take some time to settle in, relax and enjoy the many wonderful facilities that MSC Divina has to offer.

Day 3: Cadiz, Spain: Arrive 08.00 – Depart 18.00

Cádiz is among the oldest settlements in Spain and one of the country’s principal ports.

On an MSC Mediterranean cruise excursion, you can visit its old town, built on a peninsula-island, and remaining much as it must have looked in those days, with grand, open squares, sailors’ alleyways and high, turreted houses.

Literally crumbling from the effect of the sea air on its soft limestone, it has a tremendous atmosphere – while slightly seedy, definitely in decline, it is nevertheless full of mystique.

Day 4: Lisbon, Portugal: Arrive 09.00 – Depart 18.00

Strung out over a series of hills facing the glistening waters of the broad estuary of the Tejo, Lisbon is one of Europe’s most handsome cities. Although its modern suburbs are ungainly, the historic centre is relatively compact and easy to explore in just a day when your MSC cruise takes you to the Lisbon.

The oldest part of the city, the warren of streets that make up the Alfama, sits below the spectacularly sited Moorish Castelo de São Jorge, its ruined walls facing another hill, the Bairro Alto or upper town, famed for its bars, restaurants and vibrant nightlife. The valley between these hills makes up the Baixa., or lower town.

Day 5-6: At Sea :

Day 7-8: Ponta Delgada, Portugal:  Arrive 08.00 – Overnight – Depart 14.00

In Ponta Delgada , as you will realize when you arrive to the island of São Miguel during your holiday to the Azores with MSC Cruises, the wind is always blowing and white clouds quickly alternate with brilliantly blue skies.

Ponta Delgada, the port city that welcomes MSC cruise ships, is unmistakable.

While still on board, you will be able to admire the imposing Forte de São Brás, dating to the 1300s, which overlooks the docks. Once disembarked, you will have the chance to get a closer look at it. The centre of Ponta Delgada boasts two must-see places of worship, the Church of Sao Jose and the cathedral Igreja Matriz de Sao Sebastiao (began during the Renaissance but with 18th century interiors), and a curious triple arch nearby called Portas da Cidade (1783). This gate is all that remains of the defensive wall that protected Ponta Delgada up to the early modern age.

The facades of the main buildings and the street furniture of the city centre have elaborate black and white decorations. The cobblestones in some of the squares, for example, trace elegant figures along your path. Other must-see places are the Museu Carlos Machado, housed in a former convent, and Convento da Esperança, a massive square tower four stories high that is in use to this day. Adjacent, stands the venerated Santuário do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.

During an MSC Grand Voyages cruise to Ponta Delgada, it is possible to go on an excursion to Vale das Furnas, about 50 km from the city. The green lake occupying part of this ancient caldera seems like a scene from a fairy tale, while the entire town of Furnas, where you will be able to visit an enchanting botanical garden, is surrounded by flowers.

Day 9-11: At Sea:

Day 12-14: King’s Wharf, Bermuda: Arrive 18.00 – Overnight x2 – Depart 12.00

The cruise ships navigating Bermuda dock at King’s Wharf, the original pier of the Royal Navy Dockyards. It is located in Sandys Parish, on the western tip of Bermuda, and is the largest port of the archipelago.

Travellers docking here with an MSC cruise to the Caribbean will have their every need met by the modern tourist complex, which includes a shopping mall; museums such as the National Museum of Bermuda; historical buildings dating back to the 19th century, when the British Navy was active in the area; restaurants, pubs and bars; and artisan shops, where it is possible to purchase as well as observe the making of glass and Bermuda juniper objects. Infrastructure and services for practicing the most varied of athletic and recreational activities are also available.

Both over land and over sea, it is possible to reach the cities of Hamilton and St. George, part of UNESCO heritage and the first capital of Bermuda. On King’s Square, in the centre of St. George, you will be able to admire the Town Hall, which stands before instruments of public punishment used during British rule: the stocks and the pillory. A short distance away, the sinister Ducking Stool, a stool at the top of a pole to which petty thieves and gossips where tied and then dipped into the sea.

North of the city, the Unfinished Church, reminiscent of the skeleton of a Gothic cathedral, is worth a visit. From here, it is possible to go onto mini-cruises that will take you snorkelling to the coral reefs farther out or to see many submerged relics. In addition, you can water ski, ride a water scooter, windsurf and sail. You can even go on a bicycle excursion or play on an 18-hole mini-golf course. Make sure to visit Cooper’s Island, not far from the lighthouse of St. David Island. An area of wild charm, it was opened to the public in 1995, when the US Navy left the island.

Day 15: At Sea:

Day 16-17: New York, New York, USA: Arrive 08.00 – Overnight – Depart 18.00

New York is a wonderful port of call for MSC cruise liners on Grand Voyages cruise itineraries. Hidden gardens next to postmodern skyscrapers; priceless art tucked away in medieval-style cloisters; a revamped waterfront you can stroll along to take in the view.

Wandering through the patchwork of neighbourhoods is as great a thrill as any single sight. Frantic Chinatown edges stylish Soho , which is but a stone’s throw from the quiet, angled lanes of the once-bohemian West Village . A perfect espresso in a shabby-chic Williamsburg café, a rooftop view from Chelsea’s High Line or a ride on the “A” to Far Rockaway is worth much more than an “I Love New York” handbag. Cheaper, too, and the memory will last longer.

New York City officially comprises the central island of Manhattan and four outer boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. For many, Manhattan simply is New York; indeed, when your MSC cruise takes you to New York, you’ll probably spend most of your time here. Understanding the intricacies of Manhattan’s layout, especially beyond its grid pattern , and getting a grasp of its transport network should be top priorities during your MSC excursion.

New York is very much a city of neighbourhoods, most compact enough to be explored on foot (at least below 59th Street). On your Grand Voyages cruises to New York, of all America’s symbols, none is more enduring than the Statue of Liberty, looming over the harbour from its pedestal on tiny Liberty Island.

Indeed, there is probably no more immediately recognizable profile in existence than that of Lady Liberty , who stands with torch in hand, clutching a stone tablet. Measuring some 305ft from her pedestal base, she has acted as the figurehead of the American Dream for more than a century.

Days 18-19: At Sea:

Day 20:  Miami, Florida: Arrive 07.00

Your cruise ends today with your arrival in Miami. Disembarkation begins after breakfast, when you will be transferred to your 4 star Miami hotel where you will spend 1 night. It will give you time to explore this amazing and vibrant city before you fly home.

Day 21: Miami, Florida

Today you will have some free time before you check-out of your hotel, with possibly time for some last minute shopping.  We will then ask you to meet our return airport transfer for your homeward overnight flight to Dublin.
