Day to Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Killybegs, Donegal: Departs Late Night

Boudicca awaits your arrival in Killybegs, where you will be welcomed on board by the excellent crew. You will have plenty of time to settle in and explore the ship, as she leaves port late in the evening.

Day 2 – 5: At sea:

These full days are spent cruising toward your first port of call, St. Johns, Newfoundland. Until then, settle back, relax and watch the world go by or enjoy the fantastic facilities and entertainment on board.

Day 6: St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada: Arrive Early AM Depart Late PM

The capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador has a rich and colourful history. St. John’s offers a blend of old world charm, interesting architecture, historic landmarks, beautiful countryside and fishing villages in the local area.

Since 1947, explorers, adventurers, pirates and all manner of seafarers have found their way into St. John’s spectacular harbour, although the first permanent settlers were the British in the mid 18th century. The capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador and considered the oldest city in all of North America, St John’s charm comes from it’s rich and colourful history, unique architecture, breathtaking countryside and surrounding local fishing villages.

For wildlife and nature lovers, St John’s is the perfect holiday destination. There are several tours that take place on a daily basis, designed to provide visitors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see indigenous wildlife such as puffins and whales and the other natural wonders of St John’s. There are plenty of trails to walk at your leisure and a unique city centre to explore, complete with museums, art collections, murals and more.

Day 7: St. Pierre, St. Pierre et Miquelon, Canada: Arrive Early AM Depart Late PM

St. Pierre et Miquelon offers 500 years of history set in pristine wilderness. It is the last remnant of France’s once large territory on this continent. Located just south of Newfoundland and Labrador in the North Atlantic Ocean, a short distance from Canada, these pretty islands boast stunning landscapes, beautiful architecture and an extensive history and heritage.

St. Pierre – the capital of the Islands – is the busiest and most populated island, despite being a lot smaller than neighbouring Miquelon. The island is home to fine examples of historic French architecture and has many monuments – including the Pointe aux Canons Lighthouse & Battery – to visit, as well as a number of museums.

Miquelon is home to only a few hundred residents and large parts of it remain untouched. The island’s natural beauty is ripe for exploration, with long sand dunes, large lagoons and pretty rivers to discover.

Day 8: Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada : Arrive Early AM Depart Late PM

Sydney, Nova Scotia lies in an inlet on the northeast shoreline of Cape Breton Island and acts as a perfect starting place from which to explore Nova Scotia. Home to Gaelic-speaking descendants of Scottish settlers, the industrial town of Sydney is the ocean gateway to Cape Breton Island. With easy access to the highlands, the Bras D’Or Lakes and the Fortress Louisbourg National Park, Sydney is the perfect place to start your Nova Scotia adventure.

A guided tour of Old Sydney Town gives visitors the chance to visit the magnificent Fortress of Louisbourg, one of Canada’s National Historic Sites, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and beautiful Baddeck, a small yet enchanting village nearby.

Day 9: Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada : Arrive Early AM Depart Late PM

Steeped in a rich history, Corner Brook has lots of historical sights and attractions, including the Captain James Cook Monument. Its downtown area is a maze of interlocking brick sidewalks, open green spaces and lots of shops, galleries and restaurants.

The City of Corner Brook is a historic Canadian city, located on the west coast of Newfoundland. A city of great national importance, Corner Brook is lauded for its fishing, railway and paper industries. This of course means that there are plenty of historical sights and attractions to enjoy, including the Captain James Cook Monument, one of Canada’s National Historic Sites.

In the town centre, you will find all the modern creature comforts you would expect to find in a Canadian city. There are many shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries and places to meet locals, so there is never a dull day. If you are feeling adventurous, there are plenty of outdoor pursuits to try, with Marble Mountain Ski Resort on the doorstep and gorgeous terrain to explore.

Day 10: L’anse Aux Meadows, Canada: Arrive Early AM Depart Late PM

Discovered on the beautiful Canadian island of Newfoundland, the fascinating, UNESCO-listed L’anse Aux Meadows archaeological site is a ‘must-visit’ for any keen explorer. Dating back to the 11th century and harbouring connections to the mysterious Viking colony of Vinland, L’anse Aux Meadows is said to be the first and only settlement established by the Vikings in North America, and is remarkably similar to sites found in Norse Greenland and Iceland. The site is also the earliest evidence of a European settlement in the New World. It’s no wonder people have been drawn to L’anse Aux Meadows since it was discovered in the sixties!

As well as several remarkable artefacts and interesting structures, you will also find wonderful walking trails at this Canadian National Historic Site too. Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings and enjoy views of Newfoundland’s rugged cliffs and beautifully untouched coastline on a relaxing stroll.

Day 11-14 : At Sea

Sit back and relax as we take you back to Belfast for your disembarkation in Ireland.

Day 15: Belfast, Northern Ireland: Arrive Early PM

Your cruise ends today with your arrival in Belfast where you will be met by an optional complimentary coach to transfer you to Killybegs.

2016 – 14 Nights accommodation aboard the 4 Star Boudicca, operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Line. (See ship info tab for more information on Boudicca)

Fred. Olsen – 4* Ms Boudicca

Boudicca was the heroic warrior queen of the British Iceni tribe. And we like to think our truly British, world class ship lives up to the name.

Up to 880 people can enjoy a cruise on board Boudicca – not the thousands to be found on most ships these days – so there’s plenty of space for everyone. Plus, Boudicca is small enough to reach shores that many rival cruise ships simply cannot access, so guests on board can get closer to the sights that they want to see.

Inside, indulge yourself at the Tintagel and Four Seasons Restaurants. Lounge around on the Lounge Deck, or in one of our two Jacuzzis. Or splash around in one of our three pools. And when the sun’s shining, our tasty poolside buffet will hit the spot.
